Picking a doorbell button :)

No, I did not stay in the sun to long this weekend! I am on a hunt for a new doorbell button. Wow, are there a lot to choose from! This was my old one ....

Nothing special. Plastic, 1 inch with, cheap! LOL, but it worked. Once I painted the doorway, I had to change out the doorbell button! So the hunt began. There are so many different kinds of buttons. Traditional, whimsical, contemporary, scary, and craftsman style ... just to name a few.

Due to the fact that I needed my doorbell button to be slim ... I chose ...

It lights up at night and has a light at the bottom that shines down to help find your house key! I love it!! Here it is installed.

Daytime ...

Night ...

Night with porch light on!

I love it and there was one thing that I learned. There is a difference between mechanical and electrical doorbells. I have a mechanical one. It took going up on a ladder and taking the doorbell apart to figure that out! This doorbell button works with both. My porch is now almost complete!

What type doorbell do you have???

Hugs and have a great Monday,

  3. Hi Joy! Your photo caught my eye, as our doorbell regularly needs replacing because our front door faces south and they get "cooked" by the sun. I have a light up one also, in an oil rubbed finish with kind of metal beading effect around it - I love it, and we purchased it at Lowe's. Lucky for me (sorta) - I never have to worry about making a long term decision, because I know in another year, maybe two, I will be replacing it again. We have tried cheap ones, pricy ones, middle of the road ones - they all have the same life expectancy in our sunny location. Now I just buy what I like. Great post! 4. We have lived in our house 15 years and I still don't have a working door bell. sigh! I'd say the only thing good about that is that the sales people have to be persistent. lol

  5. BJ, that is the coolest thing. What a great choice. To be able to see by the light of the doorbell is perfect. I don't have a doorbell. This house had some sort of contraption on the door when we bought this house, but it was odd at the time and we were young and took it off. Now I wish I still had it. I would think it was cool now. So, at our house, if you want us to know you are at the door, you have to do it the very old fashioned way and knock.
