Recovering a Piano bench

My piano has been in the family about 25 years but will be "For Sale" soon.

It is in really great shape ... until you look closer at the piano bench ...

Come closer to get a really good look!

Once upon a time ... we had a cat. Need I say more? :)

It needs a new covering and JoAnn Fabrics had an upholstery sale. I also bought some batting.

4 easy steps

1. Remove the bench top.

2. Place on top of folded batting and trim to desired length.

3. Place on upholstery fabric and use staple gun compressor staple gun. (The regular staple gun would not penetrate the bench top.) Make cut as shown to eliminate extra bulk at corners.

4. Trim and reattach top to bench.

BEFORE and AFTER

An easy change to make a BIG difference!

I hope this finds you all having a great day!

 Hugs,

  1. You did a very professional looking job on this bench! Don't you just love staple guns? A friend of mine just did the same thing. She almost forgot the batting, which is super important to create that puffy look that is so important.. Well done!

    1. Thank you Doreen, I remembered the batting because I didn't want the leather strips to show! :) For my first time ... it went really well!

  2. That was EASY...I am not a seamstress so fabric scares me a bit. That looks great-beautiful color & pattern. Good call BJ!

    1. I didn't want to go with the drop cloth look for this piano bench as it wasn't the style of the piano, I am sure that you could use it though if that is the look you are going for!
