Our Living Room 2012

Mr. Man and I moved into our home 3 years ago this June. What fun it has been to be here and make this house our home! This was actually the MLS picture ...

Then it looked like this ...

and this is what my living room looks like now!

Some of the touches along the way included Wood blinds and shear material draped at the windows. Shelves (from The Container Store) added above the piano. More pictures below ...

What is on your coffee table? :)

I hope you enjoyed the "journey" of my living room and now I am linking to ...

Sunday's is the day, dedicated to you, where YOU can show all of us what you have been up too!!!!

Last week ...

Liz @ Image Remix shared her over the window shelf. Now why didn't I think of something like that?! I love the driftwood and the jar candles that hang from Jute. Kudos Liz!

Melissa @ Vintage Mellie shared a toolbox made from a pallet. So cute, could be done in a day, and fun to use as a decoration. She was looking for ideas to finish it so please visit her, and give her some of your ideas!

Linda @ Coach House Crafting On A Budget shared how she made a lamp base out of wood. Just a piece of wood! Her blog does say Crafting on a Budget and this definitely qualifies. She has an easy tutorial to follow too.

Company's coming!

What do you do when company is coming? If you are a DIY girl, it means that you gather all your tools in one place and make it look like you only work from this one space. LOL Oh, if they only knew! (Well, now they do if they are reading this)

It is spring and a great time to clean. Company is a coming ... Have to clean the carpet where Paxton (our pup) hangs out. In a room that has been dubbed the "White Room" no matter what home we have lived in.

Seriously, this pup gets my white carpet dirty!!!

My "Hoover". (This carpet cleaner has a rinse cycle too!) But, did you see the dirt that came off my white room carpet? Cover your eyes if you don't want to see gross water! LOL

What makes this amazing?! Here in Minnesota we take our shoes off at the door and this is still the amount of dirt that comes off the carpet. My white carpet!

Yup, company is coming ... we need to clean the rugs in the mud room as well. Is this just a girl thing? that everything has to be spotless? as if they could tell the difference between a vacuumed rug and one that was washed!

It's all good ... having a party helps give me a reason to really CLEAN the house. You know, wipe down the cupboards, doors, clean the furnace ducts ... ok, I didn't do that yet :)

The end result of the "White Room"?

4 couples who had a really tough time getting the camera to take the picture!

2 questions were asked that night, after a tour of our home ...

1. Does Miss Precious use her "Under the Stairs Playhouse"?

She is in it every time she comes to visit. And I am in there, with her :)
Special times that I hope she will remember as she grows up!

and ... 2. Do you ever use the "Murphy Bed"?

Yes, I do. This is a picture, in the morning, after one of our sleep overs. She gets the big bed until she gets older ... These are memories in the making!

Yes, company came and we hope they will be back again soon!

Guest Room Reveal!

The Guest Room is Finished!

A quick recap ... Made the Murphy Bed {here}, installed the window blinds {here} and all the other changes are shown below. :)

Here are some of the before pictures ...

Look close and you will see snow outside! Took a while to finish because, I have many projects going on at one time! LOL, Raise your hand if this is you too!!!

The first thing I did, was to change the paint color from this salmon color to Glidden's "Navajo Sand".

Of course, then ... I added the Murphy Bed and Window blinds. I moved this mirror in from downstairs and added a few finishing touches ... Can you have too many pillows? Hee Hee.

I painted all the hardware a Hammered paint in Bronze. (It was less expensive that buying all new!)

A Teddy Bear sits and is always is ready for Miss Precious to come and visit ...

And the final picture!

Before and After ...

Just in case you missed it ... The "Sunday Stop" that I host, is waiting for you to show us what you have been up to this past week!

The "Sunday Stop" Linky Party #11

The "Sunday Stop"
is open to party!

Mandi @Create Inspire Motivate created a very cute play kitchen from a TV entertainment center. I love when someone can see something different from the intended use and she came up with a cute one that any little girl would love!

Linda @Two Succulent Sisters brought re-purposing a Christmas light to us. I have to admit when I was first reading about it ... I was a bit skeptic.  I mean really people, how are you going to transform something that you use at Christmas? She has a talent! I wish I could paint like Linda.

Liz @Dreaming a Home shared with us her paper bag table top. I am paper bag jealous because I tried to do it on my Murphy Bed and it came out horrible! Check out the work she did on this table :)

Another easy gift idea! For anytime :)

Ok ... so I am at the doctor yesterday complaining discussing my left hip and how painful it is getting. I think I said something along the lines of ... "If I am like this now, what am I going to be like in 10 years?"
I love the all the things that I do and I am not wanting to stop anytime soon! According to my amazing doctor (that I travel an hour to see because she is absolutely the Bestest ever!) ... I have bursitis. Ok, really? The only time I heard that word spoken, was when I was a kid and my dad watched old Westerns on TV. For hours. It was always the old cowboys who had it. I am a suburban woman and not that old. Thank you very much! So what caused it? Painting two rooms and installing blinds. AKA ... up and down the ladder 50 million times. I guess I am not a spring chicken. More along the lines of a summer chicken. LOL I don't think there is such a thing, but in my case it fits. Any way, I am to take ibuprofen, ice it, and stay off ladders until it heals or I have to get a shot in the joint. No. thank. you! So what does a woman who loves to do projects do? How about another EASY gift idea?

I have an amazing daughter who's Kryptonite is laundry. She hates despises it. I was telling her that I was going to share what I made for her, and she asked, "Are you going to say how many piles I have? Dirty and clean piles? Even folded ones in baskets that I haven't put away? I told her, "No, I would never say that!"She said, "You can. I don't care. It's the truth." So ... ok, now you know what her Kryptonite is and she has piles of it everywhere. LOL

I wanted to make something cute for her laundry room to make it more fun to be in. :) Aren't I a good Mom?! Hee Hee. Here was my idea.

Step One ...

Go to "Google" Images, and find a cute picture of a clothes line with clothes. With teddy bear.

Step Two ...

Type the definition of Laundry... Like she doesn't already know! :)

***I typed it a bit different and you will see this in the next image :)

Step 3 ...

Add the two together.

Don't forget to make it personal ...

Step 4 ...

Add a piece of colored paper to match the color in her laundry room. And, put it all in a frame.
Very easy, yet looks great!

Just for fun ... add in a little one who loves to take pictures too

... and thinks the subject is, HER!

I have loved reading what the rest of you lovely ladies are up too!
Hugs and make it a great week!

I am linking too ...
